Antique and beautiful French Pompadour pink porcelain sevres vase with a beautiful miniature depicting a romantic court scene of a gentleman reading a poem to his loving young lady. The miniature is signed Poitevin. The cover of the vase is sealed and signed.

The artist is possibly Philippe Poitevin (1831-1907), a French artist who exhibited at several Paris Salons from 1855 onward and has works in the collection of the Musée de Marseille.

Also it was said according to W. Neuwirth, porzellanmaler-Lexikon, 1840-1914, Band II, p.163-4 that a listing of three painters with the surname Poitevin, here noted as working in Paris studios in the late nineteenth century. These entries are accompanied by illustrations of vases painted in a similar manner. But as the seal in the cover accompanied with "P" letter so it would be probably Philipe Poitevin not Henri Poitevin nor G.Poitevin.
